Ji Gang Hui grew up at Motel California, run by her father in their rural hometown. Her mother's mixed-race background made Gang Hui the subject of local gossip, leaving her with a deep wound. She loved her childhood friend Cheon Yeon Su, her first love, but left for Seoul at 20. Twelve years later, as a successful interior designer, she returns home and reunites with Yeon Su, now a village veterinarian. He still loves Gang Hui but avoids marriage proposals by not dispelling a rumor about marrying a colleague. Their paths cross again after more than a decade.
